There is currently no national governing body or award specific to coasteering. However recently, there has been a set of national guidelines developed by the national water safety forum with guidance from Adventure Activities Licensing Service, RNLI and RoPSA along with a panel for professionals from the industry.
This course is administered over two days finishing with a personal debrief and action plan, which will then see you ready for development and consolidation of the personal and group skills covered. At the end of this process when you feel you are ready you can submit yourself for an assessment, this can be done at a venue of your choice with your own group.
The social, educational and physical benefits of coasteering have meant that this is one of the fastest growing activities in the UK, leading to lots of outdoor providers striving to fall in line with and surpass the best practice standards.
This course is physically and mentally demanding and will require motivated leaders who are capable of swimming.
